Warehouse Clubs: Their Popularity and Success

What are warehouse clubs? Warehouse clubs are clubs that offer low price points to consumer, they focus more on the price and value of product rather than the customer service. To get into a warehouse you must pay a membership fee, this fee can vary from club to club. These warehouse clubs have gained in popularity over the years for their affordable prices especially with today grocery's and gas price outrageously expensive. These clubs also offer special cafes and popular food such as Costco 1.50 hot dog and their chocolate chunk cookies. These company focus more of operation efficiency than they do customer experience so if your looking for a place to shop with personalized customer experience this is not a place for you. The three well know warehouse clubs-that will be discussed in this blog- are Costco, Sams club, and BJ's.  



Costco

Costco was founded by Ron Vachris in Seattle, Washington in 1983. They are one of biggest and most well known membership warehouse club. Their philosophy as always been to keep cost down and past the savings on to our members. This is why Costco has gained in popularity for their affordable price, gas, and their cafe that sells food you can eat while you shop.  


Sams Club 

Sams club, owned by Walmart was founded by Sam Walton in 1983. They have grown to 600 locations across the Unite States with some in Puerto Rico. Sams club reduces cost by cutting cost on the overall aesthetic of the store product often time still on original wood palettes. Because Sam Club is owned by Walmart a Sam Club membership also get free shipping and other benefits used towards Walmart shopping. 



BJ's

BJ's is a warehouse club only located on the east coast. Very similar to Costco and Sam Club with the company focusing more on the operations of products rather then the customer experience. BJ's also offers cheaper gas to memberships and also has a cafe located in the store such as Costco. BJ's offers 25% more saving than other retail grocery store such as Whole Foods, Stop n Shop, and Market Basket.
